“But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.”
(1 Cor. 6:17)

Thought for the day:

God dwells in our own selves so closely it is said that the Holy Spirit has made Himself “one spirit” with us. He dwells that profoundly in our spirit, our soul, our body – including all our mind and consciousness – that we are called “united to the Lord” and “one spirit with Him”. This is not spiritual make-belief – it is written in the very Word of God for our great joy!

There is no possibility of greater nearness than this – our oneness! Indeed, whom have we in heaven but You O Lord? Where is there greater trueness and vastness of pure, holy delight than here?

Today’s prayer:

Lord, our oneness with You is such a joy to our hearts.
Teach us to bring joy to Your Spirit who has chosen to make Himself so truly one.
This is joy unspeakable and full of glory – make us profoundly conscious, indeed delighted, in of our oneness with you!
And may this delight of ours, which Your Spirit put in us, bring You great joy and glory.
Amen.
